• Indian passport holders wanting a more extended stay, multiple entries within a six-month period or are travelling for other purposes must obtain the necessary vias through the respective representations of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India.

• The visa exemption specified here exclusively pertains to Indian nationals entering the country via air border.

As mentioned above, Indian passport holders with an ordinary passport no longer require a visa or an Iran visa on arrival for Indian citizens if the purpose of travel is tourism.

However, that is not the case for employment. All Indian passport holders who have secured employment in the Islamic Republic of Iran are required to obtain a work visa before entering the country.

• Original passport with at least 6-month validity and two blank pages.

• A valid Indian residence card.

• Passport-sized photos.

• Valid insurance documents.

• A labour certificate from a sponsor employer in Iran, approved by the labour ministry.

Note: The passport photo must be scanned in an appropriate quality, a 300 resolution and maximum of 50 KB size is permitted. It must be uploaded to the visa system.

Although Indian passport holders no longer require an Iranian visa for tourism, citizens can apply for work, education or visas for other purposes through the official E-Visa portal of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Following are the Steps to make an Iran visa application online:

Step 1: Navigate to the official E-Visa portal of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Step 2: Add in all the details on the screen along with the captcha.

Step 3: Click on ‘Save and Proceed’

Step 4: Add all required information in the different fields carefully.

Step 5: Upload a passport picture in the ‘Personal Photo’ section.

Step 6: Similarly, upload a photocopy of a valid passport in the ‘Passport Copy’ section.

Step 7: Once all details are given, click on ‘Finish’

Step 8: A payment page for select services will pop up.

Upon completion of all processes, once the application is approved, the applicant will receive the visa by mail, or it can be collected at the nearest Iranian embassy.

Since Indian passport holders no longer require an Iranian visa for tourism, citizens only need to pay for work, education or other visa applications.
