To get a business visa, individuals need to have a sponsor company in Vietnam. The Vietnam business visa is further divided into two categories:**

DN1 Visa: It is a business visa type granted to foreign nationals who work with other organisations and businesses and have legal status in accordance with Vietnam laws.

DN2 Visa: This is another type of business visa for foreign nationals who come to Vietnam to offer services such as performing activities or establishing a commercial presence under international treaties in which Vietnam is also a member.

Vietnam Investor Visa

It is the visa for foreign investors to establish or expand their business in Vietnam. It is applicable for foreign investor exit, entry, residence and transit through Vietnam.

The holder of a Vietnam investor visa can also apply for a temporary card, which is valid for 10 years. Further, they can also sponsor their spouse and children for another Vietnam visa. This Vietnam investor visa is further classified into different categories.

DT1 Visa: This is the type of investor visa granted to foreign nationals who are members or representatives of foreign organisations in Vietnam with a capital contribution of VND100 billion. DT2 Visa: This is another visa granted to individuals who are representatives of foreign organisations in Vietnam with a contribution of VND 50 under the VND 100 billion. The scheme is also applicable for investing in business encouragement fields decided by the authority.

This visa, also known as the HN visa, is applicable for businesses to attend meetings or conferences in Vietnam. Its maximum validity is up to 3 months.

Vietnam Work Visa

All foreign nationals who come to Vietnam for a long-term stay and work in the country need to acquire a work permit, also known as an LD visa. The employer or Vietnam company will act as a guarantor for the applicant. The work visa is further divided into two types.

LD1 Visa: It is for foreign nationals who come to work in a country with a work permit exemption for international treaties in which Vietnam is a member.

LD2 Visa: This visa is for individuals who must have a Vietnam work permit to work or stay legally in the country.

Vietnam Diplomatic Visa

It is a diplomatic visa, also known as the NG visa. It is for members of the delegation invited or permitted by high-ranking officials or Vietnamese ministries. This visa is granted to foreign diplomats, officials, and representatives of international organisations.

It is also applicable to consulate personnel in Vietnam. Applicants need not pay any fee for acquiring this visa. It is further classified into different types.

NG1 Visa: This visa is issued to the delegation member invited by the prime minister, president, President of the National Assembly or Secretary-General of Vietnam's Communist Party of Vietnam.

NG2 Visa: It is issued to delegation members invited by the members of the Vietnam's Communist Party, the Presidents of the People's Councils, the Deputy President of the National Assembly and others.

NG3 Visa: This visa is issued to members of the consular office, diplomatic missions, representative offices of international organisations, and representative offices of intergovernmental organisations. It is also applicable to their accompanying partners, children under 18 years of age, and help service.

NG4 Visa: This visa is for applicants who come to work for consular offices, diplomatic missions, intergovernmental organisations, and international organisations affiliated to the United Nations. A visa under this category is also applicable for accompanying family members such as partners, children below 18 years of age, and househelps.

Documents for Vietnam Employment Visa for Indians

  • A fitness certificate issued by a Vietnamese competent or foreign health facility should be issued 12 months prior to the submission date and be in the regulations of the Minister of Health.

  • A criminal record certificate issued by the authorised body stating that the foreign worker is not a criminal or liable to criminal prosecution should be issued six months after the date of application.

  • Two coloured recent passport-size photographs of applicants with 4cm×6cm dimensions on a white background. The photo is taken within 6 months of the date of visa application.

  • Acceptance letter for the demand of foreign workers by the authorised government body.

  • Notarised copy of the passport.

  • Legal document proving the applicant's eligibility for a job role in Vietnam.

Vietnam Work Visa for Indians Application Process

The Vietnam work visa process is divided into two parts, which the Vietnamese employer and the employee must carry out.

Vietnam Work Visa Process By Employer

Employers play a significant role in getting a work permit, which is essential for applying under the work visa category. Below is the procedure that the Vietnam employer needs to follow.

Step 1: Request for Acceptance of Hiring Foreign Employee

The very first **Step employers need to take is 30 days before the hiring of foreign employees; they need to submit a formal request in written format to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs or Chairman of the People's Committee at the provincial level.

Employers can also submit the online request using the official web portal. The request should specify the demand for hiring a foreign employee based on the role. If the submitted request is not valid, the authorities will send the request for correction.

Step 2: Submit Application for Foreign Employee Work Permit

After receiving approval from the authority for hiring the employee, the employer needs to submit the application for the employee's work permit.

The employer needs to send all the required documents to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs or the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in the province where the foreign national is supposed to work.

The document should be sent at least 15 days prior to the start of employment.

Step 3: Get Work Permit Result

After submitting the document, the employer will receive the work permit result, which is either approved or rejected by the authority based on the document and application.

Generally, the work permit is issued within 5 days of submitting the application. The approval permit will be issued in accordance with form 12/PLI. In case of refusal, the authority will inform the employer in writing of the reason for refusal.

Step 4: Inform the Foreign Worker

Lastly, the employer needs to inform the employee about the work permit acceptance via email, fax, etc, to complete their visa procedure.

Vietnam Sticker Visa Procedure

After the work permit is issued, the employee needs to initiate the work visa procedure. Below are the Steps employees need to follow to get a Vietnam work visa for Indians:

Step 1: Carry out the Visa Application Process

The employee needs to initiate the work visa application process by scheduling an appointment at the embassy or consulate office in their home country. The applicant needs to fill out Form NA1, which is the Vietnam visa application form.

All the information added to the form should be correct. Applicants also need to attach their coloured photographs to the form.

Step 2: Submit the Required documents

On the appointment date at the embassy or consulate office, applicants need to submit all the required documents and visa application forms. The approval letter will be faxed to the embassy directly by the immigration official.

Step 3: Pay the Visa Application Fees

After submitting the documents, applicants need to pay the Vietnamese work visa fees for Indian nationals. The officials decide the fee and it cannot be refunded in case of visa rejection.

Step 4: Get the Work Visa Stamped

Vietnam e-visa Process

The e-visa is applicable for individuals visiting the country for attending conferences, business activities, tourism, and more. Below is the procedure for acquiring a Vietnam e-visa.

Step 1: Open the Online Portal

Applicants must submit the online application by visiting the Vietnam online portal for an e-visa and clicking on the "Apply Visa" button.

Step 2: Fill Out the Vietnam Visa Application Form

Next, applicants need to fill out the visa application form. All the details need to be corrected before submitting the form. After filling out the application form, also submit the needed document as suggested by the portal.

Step 3: Review and Confirm Payment

After submitting the document, applicants need to review the application form and ensure all the details mentioned are correct. After doing that, pay the online visa application fee. Save the visa application fee receipt for future reference.

Step 4: Receive Approved Visa

After submitting the form, the authority will review the application form and document carefully. Based on that, they will either reject or approve the visa request.

If the visa is approved, applicants need to carry out the further procedure for the travel in Vietnam. If it is rejected, they can apply again after some time.
