How to Renew Driving Licence in Tripura?

All motorists need to be aware that a driving licence in Tripura and across India comes with a validity period, after which, it must be renewed to drive legally on the roads. Based on the type of vehicle, a driving licence is valid for the following duration:

-Private Vehicle: The validity of a driving licence for a private vehicle is 20 years from the date it is issued or till the holder reaches the age of 40 years.

-Transport Vehicles: For commercial vehicles, the driving licence validity is five years from the date of issue. In the case of hazardous goods vehicles, the DL validity is 3 years.

-Non-Transport Vehicles: The driving licence validity for non-transport vehicles is as follows:

• If the holder is less than 30 years old on the date of issue or renewal, the validity is till he turns 40 years of age.

• If the licence holder is between 30 and 50 years of age on the date of issue or renewal, it is valid for 10 years.

• If a person is more than 50 years old but less than 55 years of age, the licence is valid until the person reaches the age of 60.

• If a licence holder is more than 55 years old at the time of licence issue or renewal, the validity of the licence is 5 years.

• Go to the Parivahan website.

• Locate the “Online Services” tab from the menu options and select “Driving Licence-Related Services.”

• On the following page, you must select your state as “Tripura” from the drop-down menu that appears.

• When the services page appears, choose “Apply for DL Renewal”. Read the instructions carefully and click ‘Continue.’

• Fill out the birth date and DL number.

• Input the captcha correctly, then click “Get DL Details.”

• In the next step, you must verify all the details and select the applicable category of your DL, the RTO, and the state. Then, click on “Proceed.”
