Driving Licence Validity In Meghalaya

In Meghalaya (and across India), a private driver's licence remains valid for 20 years from the date of issuance or until the driver is 40, whichever comes first. It can be renewed or issued for a further 10 years once the driver turns 40, and then for an additional 5 years.

  • In other words, the validity for driver licence renewals for private vehicle owners will be:

  • If you are between 30 to 50 years old at the time of your licence renewal, your licence validity period would be 10 years

  • If you are between 50-55 years old at the time of your licence renewal, your licence validity will last until you reach the age of 60 years.

  • If you are more than 55 years old at the time of your licence renewal, the validity will be effective for a period of 5 years.

Step-By-Step RTO Meghalaya Licence Renewal

  • Step 1: Visit the Parivahan Sewa website.

  • Step 2: Select "Driving Licence Related Services." after choosing "Online Services."

  • Step 3: Choose "Meghalaya" as your state from the drop-down list.

  • Step 4: Select "Apply for DL Renewal" from the list of possibilities

  • Step 5: Press "Continue" now.

  • Step 6: After that, enter your birthdate, original DL number, and other details. Follow the instructions that appear and click "Proceed".

  • Step 7: After that, fill out the application for a licence renewal in its entirety.

  • Step 8: Upload the necessary files.

  • Step 9: Review the application and submit it.

  • Step 10: Pay the necessary Meghalaya driving licence fees.

  • Step 11: Download your payment receipt and keep it safe for future reference.

Your driving licence renewal Meghalaya application will be checked against the supporting documentation once it is filed. Once verification is complete, a renewed licence will be sent via speed post to your address.

Offline Meghalaya Driving Licence Renewal Process

  • Step 1: Download the Form 2 from the Parivahan Sewa

  • Step 2: Collect all the required documents, such as your original driver's licence, Adhaar card, car registration certificate, etc.

  • Step 3: Complete the application for DL renewal and sign it.

  • Step 4: Bring the completed application form and all other paperwork to the closest RTO.

  • Step 5: Send in all the paperwork and the required payment for the renewal of your Meghalaya licence.
