Three types of visas are issued by the Malaysian Government for the Indians visiting Malaysia.

Although there is a waiver for Indian nationals travelling to Malaysia as tourists from 1st Dec 2023 until 31st Dec 2024, you have to ensure the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria and have the supporting documents produced at the security and immigration screenings at the port of entry.

The documents required are as follows:

• Passport - Validity must be at least six months

• Birth Certificate for minors

• Proof of accommodation - Confirmed hotel booking

• Confirmed return air tickets

• Proof of financial stability

A visa without reference is mandated for purposes such as social visits. The Malaysian Embassies or the High Commission Office will approve the applications. The Malaysia tourist visa documents for Indians or for any other type of social visit are listed as follows:

A visa with reference is mandated for students, individuals seeking employment, family dependents, and business professionals travelling on a visit pass. The visa for such purposes will be issued after it is referred and approved by the Immigration Department of Malaysia or Other Authorised Agencies). The documents required for these types of visas are as follows:

Approval letter, original, issued by the Immigration Department of Malaysia or other authority agencies

• Passport (Original)

• Photocopies of the passport - 2

Visa-on-arrival is available for Indian citizens, subject to the following conditions.

• Visitors should enter Malaysia via Thailand, Singapore, or Brunei with a valid visa.

• Visitors from these countries should enter through specific air, land, or sea routes as detailed here.

• Stay allowed only for 15 days.

• Should have at least USD500 cash or equivalent in Ringgit Malaysia.

• Confirmed return ticket.

If you are travelling to Malaysia with a minor (less than 18 years of age), then you may have to provide additional documents, such as:

• Birth certificate

• Proof of identification

• Photocopies of valid passports of parents/guardians

Visa Process For Malaysia

• Visit the eVISA portal.

• If you are a first-time user, click on “I’m New”, and if you are an existing applicant, click on “Returning User” to access your account.

• Provide the required information about yourself, the purpose and duration of your visit to Malaysia.

• Scan and upload the necessary and supporting documents.

• Make the applicable payments online.

• Please take a copy of the approved eVISA printed on A4-size paper to be produced at the Malaysian entry checkpoints upon arrival.

• Valid passport

• Boarding pass.

The passport-size photo requirements for the application for a Malaysia visa are as follows:

• The dimension is 35 mm x 50 mm.

• The photo must be in colour.

• The background has to be white.

• The photo must have been taken recently and not older than 3 months.

• It has to be taken in a studio for sharp focus.

• It should have appropriate contrast and brightness.

• Your face must be centred, and take 60% - 70% of the photograph (5mm distance from the top of your head to the top of the picture and 5 - 10mm distance from your chin to the bottom of the picture)

• The photo should not have any borders.

• The picture should not be edited to remove any features, birthmarks, or scars.

• Ensure to have a neutral facial expression with your mouth closed.

• Do not wear a cap or hat.

• The photo has to be clean without any creases or staple marks.

• It should be printed on good-quality paper. Scanned or coloured photocopies are not accepted.

Medical visa - If you are travelling to Malaysia for medical treatment, you can provide details of your admission to an authorised hospital or the Malaysia Healthcare Traveller's Programme.

eVISA for the purpose of Expatriate (Working), Student, or Medical Tourist (Malaysia Healthcare Travellers Programme) is valid for 3 months.

Is there an interview or online video conference applicable to the Malaysia visa application process?
